A woman with a secret…
The Federal Paranormal Unit is an elite squad of supernaturals dedicated to solving missing persons cases. Erica’s gift allows her a special connection with the crime, but it comes at a deep personal cost… Until now, she’s kept her gift a secret, even from the other members of the team. But this case will throw her together with Agent Trent Buchanan. He’s the object of her secret desires, but he’s also a cocky womanizer. She’d rather swim in shark-infested waters with a paper cut than admit she has feelings for him.

A man with one desire…
Wolf Shifter Trent wants Erica more than he’s ever wanted any woman. He’s spent years patiently waiting for her to admit that she wants him too. Working one-on-one in a race to find a serial killer, Trent’s patience and Erica’s resolve wear thin. When Trent discovers the truth about Erica, will he accept her for who she is? And can he protect her from the horrors that her gift brings?

A case that pushes them to the edge…
Erica will have to risk it all if she wants to stop the killer, and when she does, Trent may have to put his own life on the line to make sure his mate is protected…

Bringing Spring in with a bang! #ASMSG |

Ok, so this Thursday (why does everything always seem to happen on a Thursday?) there are four things I’d like to share with you and none of them are the Spring Equinox. ;P

1) As previously posted I’ll be putting up a post in the morning with the cover of Milly Taiden’s newest romance Wolf Protector. YAY! Also, if you get a chance, pop on over to her website MillyTaiden.com and help her get her likes back that Facebook stole from her. I cherish each and every one of my meager 368 likes, I can only imagine how mad I’d be losing the numbers she had.

2) My little bit of Flash Fiction (500 words!) will go live at The Iron Writer challenge. I’ll remind you Thursday (meaning bug you) to please, pretty please, with sugar on top, go there and vote. You don’t have to vote for mine.

3) If you live near Cozad, NE I’ll be “teaching” a free class at 9:30, Noon, and 2:30 at the Cozad Development Corporation on using Social Media to help grow your business. Obviously, I am not an expert on that subject; I will just be sharing my experiences using Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and so forth to engage with people. My aim is to make it seem less daunting to those who are completely new to it. And it really isn’t scary. It’s fun! Right? 😉

4) In the evening in Kearney, NE I’ll be having another author signing at Studio 3 Art Studio. Why at an art studio? My good friend and artist Pat Jones will be having an Open House there and we’d both love to have you trickle in and out and just hang with us from 7-9pm!

5) I am going to be making a new cover for First, I Love You. I’m already kicking around some ideas with some fabulous people, but I am thinking of making a poll so you, the readers, can weigh in as well. For instance, should the cover have something with Chicago on it like it did before? Something with a person (like Kiki’s silhouette)? The letters Mickey Downey wrote that the title is from? So forth…

6) I hope you have a fantastic week!

Have a fun and safe St. Patrick’s Day!

For @Geminiswords: Liebster answers

Ok so I already received the Liebster from my friend Penny (Http://www.thepenelopejones.wordpress.com) which I answered here:

But the lovely Gemini nominated me as well so I am going to answer her questions without nominating 11 new blogs. (Cheating! Yes I know, the Devil’s getting thirsty waitin for me to care. ;P)

What is your guilty pleasure?

Mmnnnn, so many ways to answer this. Food wise, cheesecake. Activity wise, reading blogs, especially those with romantic and/or sensual poetry.

Who is your favorite author?

Jane Austen

What would be your perfect first date?

Some sort of group activity (like a museum or party) where I would feel like I had an escape route. LOL I’m serious, I hated dating. Haaaaated. It. Deeply. Takes me a long time to warm up to people. Once I do it’s hard to get me to shut up.

Sweet or savory?

Both! Chocolate covered pretzels, brownsugar covered bacon, french fries in a smoothie…

Where would you rather be right now in the world?

Chicago, IL.

What is your pet hate?

My what now? Thing I hate the most? Or a pet I hate? I sense a Yank-Brit confusion here. The thing I hate most in the world is intolerance/prejudice.

What are you most talented at?

Writing? I honestly don’t know. That’s the thing I get the most compliments for. That and my ability to get people to look at something from a different angle.

If you were a cocktail, what would you be called?

The Cupcake. I know, cheating! Again! LOL

What is your most treasured possession?

I was going to kneejerk say my children but they aren’t a possession they’re a gift, so I will go with letters/keepsakes from my ancestors.

What is your favorite movie?

Dang it that’s hard. I would say tie between the BBC version of Pride&Prejudice (which is cheating again I know since that’s more a mini-series) and The Godfather.

Have you ever taken anything that wasn’t yours and if so what?

Yes. Slippers. In my defense I honestly didn’t realize I hadn’t rung them up at Target. My husband laughed about it for days because I wouldn’t wear them.

If you’re over 18, please go visit Gemini’s blog! She writes such beautiful D/s poetry, sometimes soulful, sometimes sexy, sometimes both, and sometimes her Joseph writes a response (maybe I should have said following their love story is one of my guilty pleasures…)

My Second of All Playlist

You know how there are songs that make you think of people? These are some of the songs that I loved listening to while writing for the couples in Second of All:

Tommy&Ginny:

Some Nights by Fun

Kryptonite by Three Doors Down

Kiki&James:

Hey Girl by Damian Marley

Fever by Peggy Lee

Mickey&Mary:

They Can’t Take that Away From Me by Louis Armstrong &Ella Fitzgerald

Locked out of Heaven by Bruno Mars

What do you think? Do you have any songs that make you think of these characters?

Sounds about right, except, you forgot the booze, Bob.

Stolen from Bob Lucas (I’m just a thievin thiever today, lol)

Soylent Green is PEOPLE!

Today, due entirely to my own…let’s call it hubris…I received a lot of advice. Sadly, it felt like moralizing and lecturing. Well, some of it felt like advice. And that was nice, the advice-feeling advice. All of it was even solicited advice, and let’s face it no one likes the askhole: the person who asks for advice then ignores it, so I asked for it. The irritation I am now feeling, that is. Oh, I should probably start at the beginning.

Finnigan begin again

So, I made the error of following several links today from people whose opinions I usually respect only to find myself strangely offended by their words. I think they were well-intended ruminations, designed to caution and guide newbie authors like myself but had the exact opposite effect. I backed out of the articles feeling lectured at, chastised, judged. It colored everything I did today and had me feeling off-balance and hyper-critical.

It was the equivalent of leaving your bedroom feeling slightly fabulous only to hear: “Are you going to wear that?”

Now all of a sudden you see every pimple, every wrinkle, every frayed edge, every flaw. Instead of all that was right all you see is what’s wrong, even if the ratio of right to wrong never actually changed. There was never actually any problem to begin with, but all of a sudden I started looking for some, just in case. Suddenly the decisions I had made, while I was feeling perfectly happy and fine with them a moment before now I was feeling like, clearly, since this person’s opinion is somehow more valuable than my own, I am in the wrong. And that was when I started actually actively looking for advice instead of just stumbling upon it. I got some really useful advice and some not-so useful advice and when I realized that both were giving me the same sensation of panic-inducing inadequacy, and everything and anything I did was just wrong wrong wrong wrong, I stepped away from the computer and consulted with my Fan Club.

All three of them agreed that these truths remain unchanged:

1. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

2. If the advice comes from someone who stands to gain something from your compliance, feel free to ignore it (see #1).

3. If you are confident/happy in a decision ask yourself why someone is trying to destroy that confidence/happiness before you follow their advice.

4. Do you really want to know what is in that food?

Just some things to think about while you might be writing, editing, proof reading, blogging. Words have power. Intentions are also powerful things but in the end be mindful what you say, how you say it, and how it may affect others.

I suspect I could stand to follow that advice as well.

So fantastic! I had these very same thoughts. It’s amazing when people claim First Amendment rights and then want to divorce themselves from moral and social responsibility from the EFFECTS of their “free speech”.

Tim Shriver's avatarThe World of Special Olympics

The following is a guest post in the form of an open letter from Special Olympics athlete and global messenger John Franklin Stephens to Ann Coulter after this tweet during last night’s Presidential debate.

Dear Ann Coulter,

Come on Ms. Coulter, you aren’t dumb and you aren’t shallow.  So why are you continually using a word like the R-word as an insult?

I’m a 30 year old man with Down syndrome who has struggled with the public’s perception that an intellectual disability means that I am dumb and shallow.  I am not either of those things, but I do process information more slowly than the rest of you.  In fact it has taken me all day to figure out how to respond to your use of the R-word last night.

I thought first of asking whether you meant to describe the President as someone who was bullied as a child…
