True enough. Many criminals have this mindset because, of course, what is the alternative for their psyche? If they had compassion for the people they were fleecing, it would affect their happiness in doing it, so they learn (or are taught) how to rationalize it. (Well, those that aren’t complete sociopaths, and still possess a conscience, anyway.) The human mind is an interesting thing; soldiers have to learn to rationalize the killing they do as necessary for the greater good. The “enemy” must be destroyed and any collateral damage dismissed as unfortunate, but unavoidable. Believe it or not, it is a very similar thought process for the criminal mind, except with a far more selfish and self-absorbed endgoal.
